FREESTYLE SKIING TRAMPOLINE SKILL SESSIONS COMING TO YOU


We are excited to bring to you our new Head Coach of the Ontario Park & Pipe Team – Toben Sutherland to run a fun trampoline session. These sessions are to teach coaches and athletes about trampoline skill progressions as they relate to Freestyle skiing. This session is geared to help coaches prepare their athletes for the water ramp training season and their trampoline training season. We have new tramp routines from National Team Coaches. These routines will be given a Newschool twist to help athletes get better at their Park & Pipe and Mogul air tricks. Sessions are free for coaches and athletes! Supported by Freestyle Skiing Ontario & the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This will be taking place at Giant Gymnastics on May 3rd in two sessions. 9-11a.m and 1-3p.m.

MARCH MADNESS - LAST COMPETITION OF THE YEAR


Our final competition of the season is coming up on March 28. There will be a big air event in the morning and moguls in the afternoon. This one is always the most fun, so don't miss it. Contact the club for registration information.

JR. NATIONALS - SILVERSTAR MARCH 5-8


Three of our athletes will be testing their skills against the best young skiers in Canada this weekend at the Jr. Nationals. Dillon, Matt, and Alex will be competing in the table top competition on March 7th. For more information about this event go here. Jumps and Bumps FUN DAY - Come learn to ski moguls! Feb. 28


The Thunder Bay Freestyle Club is proud to host the 2nd RBC Jumps and Bumps Fun Day. This event is geared towards children ages 9-15 that want to learn or improve their mogul skiing. The day will be spent on our Pine mogul course. All participants must be parallel skiers, but no mogul experience is necessary. The morning will consist of a mogul clinic taught by certified coaches and the afternoon will see a fun competition where everyone can show off their new skills. Free lunch, t-shirt, and many prizes to give away. Everyone had a great time last year, so be sure not to miss this one. Registration upstairs at Loch Lomond between 9-10 a.m. February 28th

LEVEL 1 COACHING COURSE


For anyone looking to become a certified coach...We will be holding a level one technical coaching course at Loch Lomond on February, 20-22. In this course, candidates will learn how to teach introductory progressions for rails, jumps, moguls and halfpipe. Some of the costs of this course may be subsidised through the Quest for gold

PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009


Congradulations to all the competitors from Thunder Bay that competed in the 2009 Ontario Provincial Championships in Ottawa. Everyone did a great job. FIRST COMPETITION JANUARY 17


Our first competition of the year is coming up soon. This will be a great opportunity for our new athletes to learn the competition format and test out their new skills. Competitive athletes are reminded that this is now a ranking event that will count towards the selection for Jr. Nationals. Parents, you have not been forgotten, we need volunteers to help make the competition a seccuss. There are many jobs available so please let us know if you can help out.

THE NEW YEAR BEGINS


The '08/'09 season is well under way. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Christmas camps. They were a huge success. It was great to spend four days training in the Spirit Mountain terrain park, without having to worry about any competition.
